That is a question I should be answering now, because every time I connect to the internet, certain precautions should always be done before I could finally start doing what I ought to do, first things first – anti virus! Then endless security codes, passwords and everything,

I used to remember, that when internet was first introduced, I was still in school back then, (well, that was not so long ago yet!). Anyway, we always here instructions from our elders, not to attach picture, do not tell your true identity, do not put your real name, do not trust anyone, blah blah blah! Because someone might use your identity, or your picture in a harmful way or someone might harass you and other things we used to be wary before.

Well, that was way back in the past. But today, significant changes are very noticeable. The boom of many social sites is very visible, almost majority of internet users have one social site and you can say that substantial information are openly available there.

But, thanks to endless efforts of genius people to make the Internet a trusted place, anti-hacking, anti-spamming, anti-virus and many anti-ill-minded people are being created to provide quality services in the internet.

Well, we all know that internet is a very, very useful tool in our modern technology today. And so as a responsible internet user it is our duty to use all necessary computer tools to keep our computers safe. Because we can not deny that in every situation there will always be a fight against good and bad. Let us all try to win over malicious users, who have nothing else to do but to create mayhem in the internet. Indeed it is our duty to make a Trusted Internet!

I saw this sound advise from a fellow forumer, I just thought it can be helpful to other UMPC users too,so I’ve decided to put it here on the blog, thanks friend..

Alright, I’ve just found a new trick that maximizes battery power on your UMPC. It involves activating XP’s power saving feature for the WiFi module.

Click START -> Control Panel -> Network Connections

Right click on your active wireless connection (usually named “Wireless Network Connection) and click on Properties.

Under the General tab, click on Configure

Click on the Advanced tab, scroll down the list to “Power Saving Mode”.

Set Value from CAM to Max_PSP.

Enjoy 10% better battery life!

Note that not all wireless access points support this power saving feature. If you find yourself having trouble initiating a wireless connection or if your connection intermittently drops, simply set the value back to CAM.

Other tips I’ve gathered is to minimize using USB, card readers, flash disk, etc. coz they are really battery suckers

Yes, indeed Bingo is a favorite game here in our country, wherever you are, you can surely ask a child or adult how to play this game. It is being played during fiestas, school fund raising, barangay fund raising, and even in TV!

I remember in the past, well that was still not so long ago. I used to be an officer in our street organization and during Christmas party, we always organize Bingo Social that is what we call it, from preparation of the game cards, to the solicitation and buying of prizes to the selling of cards and to the facilitation of the game – I am one of the committee. But, sadly officers are not allowed to play… hahaha because if we won, people might suspect some conspiracy. But anyway, on other occasions, I was able to play it with my family during other social events, like in fiestas.

I also remembered, our hard times in the preparation of the cards before… well you must know that computers are not yet so popular during that time. You still have to visit Mr. Printing Press because they are the only one capable of printing nice cards during our times. Gosh, how times had changed now.

Today, Bingo cards are possible to play right in the comfort of your homes through Disney Bingo DVD. Well, that is the power of technology and thanks to innovative minds of people who never ceases to maximize the power of the internet because you can purchase them through sites like Amazon.com.

Whew indeed, Bingo is a game for all ages and of all times. Even if your town or barangay fiesta is still months to go but you already want to play one with your friends or family you can do it anytime through Disney Bingo.

Google made its debut as a cell phone software provider Tuesday at an event where wireless carrier T-Mobile said it will begin selling the G1 phone for $179 with a two-year contract. The device hits U.S. stores Oct. 22 and heads to Britain in November and other European countries early next year.

In NEW YORK – The first cell phone running Google Inc.’s mobile software looks something like Apple Inc.’s iPhone and has a large touch screen, but it also packs a trackball, a slide-out keyboard and easy access to Google’s e-mail and mapping programs.

The phone will be sold in T-Mobile stores only in the U.S. cities where the company has rolled out its faster, third-generation wireless data network. By launch, that will be 21 cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Miami.

In other areas, people will be able to buy the phone from T-Mobile’s Web site. The phone does work on T-Mobile’s slower data network, but it’s optimized for the faster networks. It can also connect at Wi-Fi hotspots.

Finally, after a long wait we were able to fulfill our dream vacation by taking some San Francisco tours . After landing in the airport, we went directly to the place where we were assigned to stay and went out afterwards, very eager to see all the wonderful places San Francisco has for us.

There are indeed so many hills in San Francisco. My most favorite is the Russian hill and I am not sure if that place is full of blooming flowers all year round, but when we visited, different colors of lovely flowers are exploding all over us. The time was perfect for strolling because the weather is fine we had a very mild climate. We went to museums and some are almost as grand as the Metropolitan museum of art, while traveling I noticed that there are only few personal cars in the city, instead most of the people are happy to commute and riding a bus instead, a bus that really looks new to us because there are doors in every side. But, I admire them because obviously there is less traffic and pollution.

Now, when the time came for us to go to The Golden Gate, my niece was so excited to have her picture take from there. Finally we arrived at our destination But to her utter disappointment and to our laugh, she solemnly ask “Mom, I thought we were going to see a pure GOLD GATE?”

By the way, you may check some online travel guides for a better and well planned trip, I heard about this special promotion where a person can win a $150 Magellan’s Gift Certificate by signing up for a newsletter and at the same time getting more ideas for your next trip. Trusted Tours & Attractions

What is UMPC?

Little Laptops – that’s what they call it. More and more people are opting to buy a UMPC nowadays, and that prompted me to search more for the specifications of these Ultra Mobile PC, UMPC for short and also known as Project Origami.

Google Search tells me that a UMPC:

- runs on Windows OSs including while others run on specially adapted versions of Linux.

- and low-voltage Intel Pentium or VIA C7-M processors in the 1 GHz range.

- The touch screen is sized 8 inches. (so small)

- Suitable for use of stylus as well as hand

- The Project Origami Ultra-Mobile PC is just a platform for which manufacturers can design any model they want, provided they meet or exceed the baseline specifications laid down by Intel and Microsoft. However, UMPC’s are capable of running a full version of most PC operating systems.

- UMPCs with Windows XP installed are able to run any software that has been written for the Windows XP platform, though the small form factor often mandates some changes to the interface.

- The standard Windows XP interface is the default, though a choice of having an interface more suited for the small form factor is available with the Touch Pack Interface.

- As the units are so small, many UMPCs do not feature a physical keyboard, but an on-screen virtual keyboard provided in the Touch Pack Interface. Also, since the device has standard USB 2.0 connectivity, external keyboards and mice can be attached.

- UMPCs have enough processing power to support audio, video, and gaming, in addition to having rich support for browsing the internet as well as for other communication and networking applications. Windows Media Player is included, with a special skin designed to provide a better experience on the small screen. The devices also feature DirectX 9–class graphics, and all applications available for standard Tablet PCs are expected to be compatible.

- Battery life is expected to increase from the initial 2½ hours to 8 hours.

How about the Price?

Surprisingly, the price ranges from P17,000 to P70,000, it just depends on the brand.

How it Looks

Some brands also features sim slots for HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access, is a new protocol for mobile telephone data transmission. It is known as a 3.5G (G stands for generation) technology. Essentially, the standard will provide download speeds on a mobile phone equivalent to an ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) line in a home, removing any limitations placed on the use of your phone by a slow connection.)

As I understand, it functions more like a regular PC or laptop, the size is the only big difference. You can install programs, connect with the internet, use webcams, wifi, bluetooth, sim, memory cards… what else? Uh - the battery life… more or less a full charge battery can last up to 2 hours only. Unless you are using 6-cell battery. There are also a variety of colors to choose from - black to pink!

But, as of this time I am still confused how to classify a UMDC from netbooks and so many other names that are appearing now. For now, I’ll just leave it to that. Let us just see what the future brings, computing devices really runs fast, it is hard to catch up with the latest!

I am not sure what brands has the most reliable product now… If you have one now, maybe you could share its performance, so you might help us decide what to purchase if times comes we decide to change our laptop and desktop PC.

Good

I think (<strike>I believe)</strike> they are good because:

Bad

Bad because…

1. I just think that almost everybody has a digi cam now, with the help your computer and printer, you can easily print you precious photos in a minute.

and the downside is…I am just thinking about those photographers who makes a living

by taking pictures of tourists on scenic spots all over the country, just like in Baguio,

they are getting lesser customers each day, with the birth of digital cameras.

Well, that is life, we really have to evolve.
