Reflexology to Improve General Health?

We had our zone therapy( most commonly known as reflexology) yesterday. Wikepedia said that zone therapy is the practice of massaging, squeezing, or pushing on parts of the feet, or sometimes the hands and ears, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health.

It feels good to be massaged. For hardworking people (like us :-)) we do deserve to treat ourselves with these simple luxuries to relax tensed muscles once in while.

But do you know that although, there is still no scientific evidence that reflexology can help improve and give beneficial effect to a person’s health. Obviously, many people still prefer to have zone therapy on a regular basis. And are even willing to pay Php 100 to P1,000+ for one hour session and even if it means not taking a bath for at least 12 to 24 hours? :-)

Ate (the zone therapist who massaged us) informed me as well that even if you are an expert in reflexology, you can not apply and work together with the hard working blind reflexologists  you see on malls and other massage clinics, because that group is supported by our government and are exclusively for the blinds only.

While she is checking our reflex zones on the soles of our feet and she patiently tells us that each zones somehow has a connection with some of our vital organs, but she also tells us that zone therapy is in no way a form of medical treatment although it can help detect body problems that are possible to develop into serious illnesses.

While she was massaging my friends hands, somewhere between his thumb and forefinger, Ate asked if the veins are hurting if she would put pressure on it, and indeed it was hurting terribly, she advised him to had an eye check up because it has a connection with his eyes.

Just to see and verify her “findings” we will see for ourselves probably next week. I’ll just keep you posted, but whether even if with or without scientific evidence, I guess I’ll probably had another massage session. Just for the sake of the blissful feeling of being relaxed. :-)

Wise thing to buy as Christmas gift

The United States is not the only one affected by global crisis. From the word itself global - what we are experiencing now is a global crisis that had affected majority of the countries all over the world, especially the developing ones.

Although financial crisis is a disadvantage, I see it more as an opportunity wherein the creativity and resourcefulness of people are being highlighted. In every places you can see many people doing various things and adjustments just to be able to save that hard earned money.

We just tend to spend more on necessities, which includes food, house expenses and education related expenses of the children. Personally I avoid going to malls this past few weeks, we are also cutting-off some unnecessary use of electricity and fuels because they really are high here in our place.

And since Christmas is fast approaching, I am already thinking of things to buy that should not necessarily be expensive but I still want them to be treasured because of its usefulness. That is why I think an eyeglasses would be best for elders like my mom. And when thinking of eyeglasses, I surely go for the one which is own-manufactured by the seller, So that I wouldn’t have to pay more for their advertising expenses and middlemen incentives, that way I am not sacrificing the quality and style over the price. Well, that’s how life is being live these days; we just can not afford to be spendthrift even for eyeglasses.

Are you an Oniomaniac?

Photobucket

Oniomania is wikepedia defined as the compulsive desire to shop, more commonly referred to as shopping addiction or shopaholism.

I never thought that shopping can actually be a disorder when done excessively. I know rich people used to shop excessively either:

a. to flaunt that they have the money

b. lack of time to choose carefully that is why they just tend buy several things, when they have the opportunity and just decide later which one to use.

c. act of goodwill, :-) I know some people who used to buy many unneeded things from poor looking sellers and just gave everything they bought to others.

But I was surprised to hear that there are indeed some people who are sick with oniomania. That they would go to the extent of lying, stealing and borrowing money just to support their addiction to shopping.

According to studies most of them are the ones materially deprived during younger years.

Best thing to do is to avoid getting credit cards and bringing extra money when going out. And most of all try to seek for other diversions aside from shopping. :-) Or better yet, just bring me along when you need a shopping companion. lol

GO for a Trusted Internet!

Trusted Internet! Well, so do you trust the internet?

That is a question I should be answering now, because every time I connect to the internet, certain precautions should always be done before I could finally start doing what I ought to do, first things first – anti virus! Then endless security codes, passwords and everything,

I used to remember, that when internet was first introduced, I was still in school back then, (well, that was not so long ago yet!). Anyway, we always here instructions from our elders, not to attach picture, do not tell your true identity, do not put your real name, do not trust anyone, blah blah blah! Because someone might use your identity, or your picture in a harmful way or someone might harass you and other things we used to be wary before.

Well, that was way back in the past. But today, significant changes are very noticeable. The boom of many social sites is very visible, almost majority of internet users have one social site and you can say that substantial information are openly available there.

But, thanks to endless efforts of genius people to make the Internet a trusted place, anti-hacking, anti-spamming, anti-virus and many anti-ill-minded people are being created to provide quality services in the internet.

Well, we all know that internet is a very, very useful tool in our modern technology today. And so as a responsible internet user it is our duty to use all necessary computer tools to keep our computers safe. Because we can not deny that in every situation there will always be a fight against good and bad. Let us all try to win over malicious users, who have nothing else to do but to create mayhem in the internet. Indeed it is our duty to make a Trusted Internet!
