UMPC Battery Saving Tips

I saw this sound advise from a fellow forumer, I just thought it can be helpful to other UMPC users too,so I’ve decided to put it here on the blog, thanks friend.. :-)

Alright, I’ve just found a new trick that maximizes battery power on your UMPC. It involves activating XP’s power saving feature for the WiFi module.

  • Click START -> Control Panel -> Network Connections
  • Right click on your active wireless connection (usually named “Wireless Network Connection) and click on Properties.
  • Under the General tab, click on Configure
  • Click on the Advanced tab, scroll down the list to “Power Saving Mode”.
  • Set Value from CAM to Max_PSP.
  • Enjoy 10% better battery life!

Note that not all wireless access points support this power saving feature. If you find yourself having trouble initiating a wireless connection or if your connection intermittently drops, simply set the value back to CAM.

Other tips I’ve gathered is to minimize using USB, card readers, flash disk, etc. coz they are really battery suckers ;-)

Bingo is a Part of My Country’s Culture

Yes, indeed Bingo is a favorite game here in our country, wherever you are, you can surely ask a child or adult how to play this game. It is being played during fiestas, school fund raising, barangay fund raising, and even in TV!

I remember in the past, well that was still not so long ago. :-) I used to be an officer in our street organization and during Christmas party, we always organize Bingo Social that is what we call it, from preparation of the game cards, to the solicitation and buying of prizes to the selling of cards and to the facilitation of the game – I am one of the committee. But, sadly officers are not allowed to play… hahaha because if we won, people might suspect some conspiracy. But anyway, on other occasions, I was able to play it with my family during other social events, like in fiestas.

I also remembered, our hard times in the preparation of the cards before… well you must know that computers are not yet so popular during that time. :-) You still have to visit Mr. Printing Press because they are the only one capable of printing nice cards during our times. Gosh, how times had changed now.

Today, Bingo cards are possible to play right in the comfort of your homes through Disney Bingo DVD. Well, that is the power of technology and thanks to innovative minds of people who never ceases to maximize the power of the internet because you can purchase them through sites like Amazon.com.

Whew indeed, Bingo is a game for all ages and of all times. Even if your town or barangay fiesta is still months to go but you already want to play one with your friends or family you can do it anytime through Disney Bingo.

G1 - Google Phone

Google made its debut as a cell phone software provider Tuesday at an event where wireless carrier T-Mobile said it will begin selling the G1 phone for $179 with a two-year contract. The device hits U.S. stores Oct. 22 and heads to Britain in November and other European countries early next year.

In NEW YORK – The first cell phone running Google Inc.’s mobile software looks something like Apple Inc.’s iPhone and has a large touch screen, but it also packs a trackball, a slide-out keyboard and easy access to Google’s e-mail and mapping programs.

The phone will be sold in T-Mobile stores only in the U.S. cities where the company has rolled out its faster, third-generation wireless data network. By launch, that will be 21 cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Miami.

In other areas, people will be able to buy the phone from T-Mobile’s Web site. The phone does work on T-Mobile’s slower data network, but it’s optimized for the faster networks. It can also connect at Wi-Fi hotspots.

Are you more Dog or Cat?

There are lots of psychological questionnaires in the internet, but I seldom answer them. Except this one, because I truly am a dog and cat lover and I just wanna find out which one is more like me… :-)

You Are: 50% Dog, 50% Cat

You are a nice blend of cat and dog.

You’re playful but not too needy. And you’re friendly but careful.

And while you have your moody moments, you’re too happy to stay upset for long.
